Welcome to U13 tryouts for the 25/26 season. My name is Nathan Rowland, coach of the U13A.
I am extremely excited to kick off the inaugural season of the Elgin Thames 73s.
I believe in building a positive team culture. One where players feel motivated, respected, and supported. I’ll be encouraging camaraderie, belief, trust and mutual respect, both among players and between players, families and coaches.
Playing hockey is more than just a game. It’s an environment for growth and character building. My coaching philosophy is built on three pillars: teamwork, individual development, and inspiring young players to become the best version of themselves – both on and off the ice. I believe that when players understand their role within a team and commit to growing personally, the entire team benefits and reaches new heights together.
I am committed to helping every player on the U13A team grow their skills, strengthen their character, and walk away from the season with lasting memories and a deeper love for the game.
Tryout process
Each player is guaranteed 3 Skates for "A" tryouts – Players can be released after the second skate and are then eligible for their third skate as part of the "U13B" tryout starting May 10th
Please check the website regularly for updates. The first roster update will be posted after Sunday's skate. For all tryout skates, please check in at the sign-in table to receive your assigned jersey. Please return your jersey after each skate.
Flex hockey will be evaluating the entire tryout process along with independent evaluators.
